What product is being recalled?

This voluntary recall involves certain Boon Flair and all Flair Elite Highchairs as detailed below. The recalled Flair Elite highchair is Model No. B751 and the Flair Highchairs are model numbers: B701, B702, B703, B704, B706, B707, B708, B709, B716, B717, B718, B731, B10147, B11068, B11069, and B11401. The highchairs were sold at Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, Toys ‘R’ Us, and other stores nationwide, and online at Amazon.com, Target.com, Walmart.com, and BedBathAndBeyond.com. The Flair Elite was sold from 2008 to 2009 for about $380. The Flair models were sold from January 2008 through February 2021 for between $230 and $250.

Is my highchair part of the recall?

The recall applies to all Flair Elite highchairs and Flair highchairs manufactured before September 2016.

Why is it being recalled?

The bolts used to secure the seat of the recalled highchair to the pedestal base can become loose and allow the seat to detach, posing a fall hazard.

Where can I find my highchair's model number and date code?

The model number and date code can be found on the label on the underside of the base.

What is the remedy?

Working closely with the CPSC, TOMY has determined that the issue can be easily remedied in the home using the free repair kit being provided by the company, which includes 5 flat washers, 5 split washers, 5 M6 bolts, and written instructions for completing the repair. Do not return the item to the store.

Should children stop using affected highchairs?

Consumers should discontinue use immediately and do not use the highchair until you have received the free repair kit containing the 5 flat washers, 5 split washers, and 5 M6 bolts, and followed the written instructions to make the repair. We will endeavor to send you the repair kit as soon as possible to minimize the impact. We appreciate your patience and support.

What should consumers do with an affected highchair?

Consumers should immediately take an affected Boon Flair or Flair Elite Highchairs away from children and contact TOMY International online at http://recall.tomy.com..

Can I take my highchair back to the store to get a refund?

All of our retail partners are participating in the recall that was agreed upon with the CPSC and will be unable to provide a refund as a remedy to this recall.

Can I register for the recall if I don’t have the receipt for my highchair?

Yes, we will provide a free repair kit to all consumers with a recalled product regardless of proof of purchase

How long will it take to get my repair kit?

Our process has been set up and we are working very hard to fulfill all orders. We are currently shipping orders within 4 to 6 weeks of the registration processing. You will receive an email confirmation once your kit ships.

How does TOMY know that the repair kit will solve the problem?

The flat/split washer combination has undergone comprehensive testing and validation. These efforts give us a very high degree of assurance that the repair will meet all our performance and quality specifications. However, the highchair should be inspected before use to ensure that the highchair seat is attached tightly to the pedestal base. If it ever feels like the seat is becoming loose, the 5 M6 bolts should be retightened as described in the instructions that will accompany the repair kit.
